The building was leased in the early seventies to the postal service by Sardar Gurcharan Singh Sandhu owner and resident of "Sandhu Lodge", Akalsar Road, Moga, Punjab, India (located behind the building) from 1964-1994. He passed away in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on August 18, 2007 at the age of 84 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Rajinder Kaur who currently lives with their son Gurkirpal Singh and his family in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. Their two daughters Kamaljit Grewal and Paramjit Berar live with their families in Ludhiana, India and Mississauga, Canada respectively.
