This magnificent building with a huge dome stands on a historic site the south-east bastion of the Old Fort William. The building was designed by the Government Architect Watter B. Granville, and completed in 1868. The tower itself is nearly 120 ft. in height. It is currently the office of the Post Master General. Look for the inscription on the marble plaque and the brass line running through the stairs marking the position of the south-east bastion of the Old Fort William: Inside, there is a Philatelic Bureau from where newly issued stamps and First Day Covers may be collected.
