It's one of the most iconic place in Darjeeling. It's a heritage structure located at Laden la road beside the park restaurant. the distance between Mall and Darjeeling post office is near about a Kilometer. If you visit Darjeeling, one can walk along laden la road and can visit this heritage post office

Don't be misled by the 4 & 5 star ratings. All the positive ratings are from the tourists who like the heritage building and are on a few days visit to Darjeeling. And all the negative ratings , like mine, are from the locals who experience actual harrasment from the staff. I have lost valuable packages and gifts from overseas and nobody was answerable or took the responsibility to own up the mistake even though the tracking showed they were delivered (though not to me) . I wanted to lodge a police complaint but the old lady manning the staff requested me that it was her last days in the office and didn't want to retire with a dent on her career. She requested me not to file a police complaint and said she will take care of it personally. Well, she didn't and time passed by until my temper cooled down and it was not worth fighting for. Do not send any valuable packages thru India Post. Use private couriers.

The post office operates from the heritage building which is beautiful and iconic. Amidsts the ugly concrete jungle of today's Darjeeling, this place gives us a glimpse of the bygone era when Darjeeling town was clean, green and truly the queen of the hills. Having said that it is probably true about all the hill stations in the country. My experience with the staff has remained positive as far as government offices are concerned. Now they also have ATM at the left hand corner, outside the building.

The Darjeeling Head Post Office is housed in a beautiful old style British heritage structure like the head post offices in most ot the big towns and cities of India. It is very spacious inside and there are many counters for different services. There is even a philatelic counter which we visited and sent some picture post cards by the old snail mail method from here.

Miss/Mrs Ruby one of the staffs of post office has to learn how to behave with the customers. It is her duty to deliver letters/posts, it is not the customer's part to go and collect wherever she wants a person to come and collect. This is the very first time I'm dealing with the issue. She called me and asked me to pick up and also didn't handover my insurance paper instead she quarrelled with me. Horrible experience!

This is the head post office of Darjeeling. The front gate of this post office is huge and beautiful.There are two types of post box in front of the post office. Whenever I visit Darjeeling I always like to visit this place. The post office is situated in the middle of the city. Three roads crossing are there in front of the post office.

This is the worst post office I have ever seen in my life, my mom send me the parcel through speed post and its been a week now , it clearly mentioned that it will be delayed I was ok but the post office in my area in Delhi is closed because of covid as informed by customer service today and even they are not sure when it it will be opened . In Maharashtra and Delhi its closed and these things the people working in Darjeeling Post don't know about it , its a technical world now once you enter the pincode where it was sending they shld be aware of it . Now they hire smart n intellegent people who knows abt the computer or if possible they don't know how to use it. UseIess people its a digital world now the post office shld keep their system up till date,shld not letplet suffer. Even for parcel we pay money its not free, I think people are educated illiterate.
