They make up rates on the fly. I would Suggest checking other DTDC branches beforehand for the rates. Had to send a single page document to Dubai and they quoted 5k INR, luckily i had called DTDC Ganapathy beforehand, i ended up sending it through the Ganapathy branch for 1.2k INR. Have sent laptops to chennai on 3 different occasions during the last year and the rates somehow seem to exponentially increase.

Excess Price Charged Rs 200/ charge for 500 gms clothing worth Rs 1000/- return to seller parcel to Jaipur. We received 1kg parcel clothing from Jaipur for just Rs 80/ shipping charge. On checking back requesting refund of excess fees no action taken by DTDC customer care nor the branch . RIPOFF
